MARION -- The Southern Illinois Miners will have to replace one of their top players.
The San Diego Padres bought the contract of shortstop Tyler Stubblefield Tuesday. Stubblefield becomes the 26th Miners' player to go on to a Major League organization.
Stubblefield will report to the Ft. Wayne TinCaps Wednesday. Ft. Wayne is the Padres' Class A affiliate.
In 27 games with the Miners, Stubblefield hit .305 with two homers and 12 runs batted in.
