Martin Inducted to Football Hall of Fame
MARION -- Kerry Martin is busy this time of year.
He's preparing for his 24th season as a head football coach. But this spring is unlike any other. For the first time, he will do so as a hall of famer.
Martin was inducted to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame April 6 at a ceremony in Champaign.
Fifteen coaches from across the state received the honor. Martin is one of only two who are still actively coaching. The Salem native has won more than 150 games in his career, including a state championship with Carterville in 1996.
He says entering the Hall of Fame is a humbling experience.
