PEORIA -- Trico's softball team finished in second place in the class 1A state championship game on Saturday.

Trico took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning when Emily Bauersachs hit a homerun over the center field fence.

However, in the sixth inning Altamont's Lauren White hit a two-run homerun. Altamont went on to win the state championship with the 2-1 win.

"We did everything right today but they got one better swing than we did," said Trico head coach Drew Franklin. "My hat is off to their team but I am still so proud of my team."

"We are the second best team in the state and that is awesome," said Jessica Prange. "I was satisfied with first or second because no one expected us to go this far."

Congratulations to Trico on an incredible season.
