SESSER -- Southern Illinois will be represented at the National Junior Olympics track and field meet next week in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Among those who will compete--Harrisburg's Lindsay Murray in the 17-18 year old ladies' pole vault, as well as Carterville's Harrison Thomas who qualified in the 3000 meters.

Sesser's duo of Zayne Fornear and Jaden Lance also qualified for the event. Zayne is in the 15-16 year old division for the long jump. He will be a freshman this year at Sesser-Valier High School and currently holds the 8th grade state record in the long jump.

Jaden is in the 9-10 year old division for the long jump. He'll be a fifth grader.

Both advanced to the National meet by posting qualifying marks at the regional Junior Olympics meet last week in Kankakee.

They say the trip to nationals is the opportunity of a lifetime.
