Indians Scramble Diamond East Race
JOHNSTON CITY -- There's a logjam atop the Eastern Division of the Black Diamond with four teams separated by a half game.
Johnston City moved into a tie for first with Fairfield by beating the Mules 60-51 Friday night.
The Indians led by just one at the half before extending that lead to 42-34 after three.
Luke McCormick hit back to back threes early in the fourth to extend the lead to 15. McCormick led an Indians' barrage from the three-point range with seven trifectas on the night.
With the win, Johnston City improves to 4-2 in conference play--tied with Fairfield and Hamilton County. The Foxes won at Eldorado 75-65. The Eagles are just a half game back at 4-3.
In Black Diamond-West play, Trico won at Sesser-Valier 54-50. Goreville held off Zeigler-Royalton 77-69, and Christopher downed Elverado 61-28.
