CARBONDALE -- Former Saluki Nick Hill and the Carbondale Terriers are putting in the final preparations for Friday's season opener at Jackson County rival Murphysboro.

Hill has been on the job as head coach less than six weeks after replacing Dan Koester who resigned.

He says all of the away from the field responsibilities has been the biggest surprise of the job.

With 22 seniors, including several starters returning, Hill says he likes the possibilities of his squad. He admits it's still different heading into opening week as a coach and not a player.
