Carmi-White County Has Extra Week Of Preparation
CARMI -- Carmi-White County's football team is gearing up for the upcoming season, but the Bulldogs will have one extra week of preparation before playing in their first game.
During the off-season this year, Elverado made the decision to co-op with DuQuoin and that left Carmi without an opponent for week number one, which means the Bulldogs will not kick-off the regular season until September 5th.
"When it came down to it we couldn't find an opponent that we felt like we could match up against," said Carmi-White County head coach Kurt Simon. "So, it is what it is and it gives us one more week of preparation and we will try and take advantage of that."
"I think it hurts us a little bit not having that ninth game but we have an extra week to get ready for our first game but it is a little bit of a disadvantage I would say," said Carmi-White County senior Tyson Russell.
Carmi returns 10 starters on offense and defense. The Bulldogs have strong leadership on both sides of the ball this season. They believe their offensive line and backfield are solid, and they are focused on running the ball.
