Local Rider Knocking at the Olympics

Carbondale, Illinois is home to Meghan O'Donoghue and her thoroughbred horse, Pirate. The two have steadily climbed the ladder of their sport, eventing, which at the highest levels involves a challenging 3 or 4 day competition involving dressage, cross country and stadium jumping. And now, in just about a month's time, Meghan and Pirate may be headed to Lexington to compete in Rolex Kentucky -- a 4Star event that some say is more challenging than the Olympics.

In fact, for the last several years Meghan and Pirate have lived in Virginia where the pair has been training with several of the Eventing team members who competed in last year's Olympics in London.
