Celebrate the diversity, culture and creativity of Southern Illinois wine and art on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail during Vintage Arts Month.
March brings about more than Spring on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. With the coming of the new season, wineries will begin to release new vintages of your favorites and new release wines that you have never tried. It is an exciting time in the vineyard as we are trying to finish our pruning before bud break in early April and the wineries are hopping with new customers.
As well as showcasing award-winning Illinois wines, Vintage Arts month along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail showcases many of the talented artists who call southern Illinois home and are inspired by the scenic beauty and cultural diversity found in our area.
Jim Ewers, current president of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail says, “Wine and Art Month is a natural joining of many people expressing themselves through many mediums; the artists with pen, paint, metal, wood and glass and the winemakers with grapes, other fruit, oak, steel and time. Each winery “adopts” an artist to share their space and allow them to transform the same ol’ same ol’ into something different and exciting for the month of March. It’s a great time to hit the trail and see what’s new in your favorite wineries.”
From jewelry and paintings to hand crafted metal & wood works, photography and more, we’re sure you will find something along the trail to remember your visit. Plan your Spring Break Vacation Today!
Individual wineries will have musical events, wine dinners and more planned for the month. Please visit our Events Calendar at www.shawneewinetrail.com for more information.
