70th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Dwight and Evelyn Weaver, longtime residents of the Berry Community, north of Sims, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Sunday, January 29, 2012.
In honor of the event, their children, grandchildren, and great - grandchildren are hosting a reception at Round Prairie General Baptist Church from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Their many friends and relatives are invited to join the family in celebration. The couple requests that gifts be omitted.
Mrs. Weaver is the former Evelyn Lowe, daughter of the late Clarence and Sarah "Tillie" Pennington Lowe of the Johnsonville area. Dwight is the son of the late Lewis and Eva Dickey Weaver, also of the Johnsonville area.
The couple was married by a justice of the peace in St. Charles, Missouri on January 28, 1942. witnesses for the ceremony were Delmar Hale, Veda Leathers Parbs, and Delmar Dickey.
Dwight and Evelyn are living on a farm five miles north of Sims where they have made their home for the past sixty years. Before his retirement, Dwight was a farmer and also worked as a janitor at the Berry Grade School for over twenty years.
Evelyn has been a housewife and has taken an active part in many community activities. Both have always been very involved in church work at the Round Prairie General Baptist Church.
The Weavers are the parents of six children. They are Carl Weaver and wife Linda; Sandra, who passed away in 2006, wife of Joe Barefield of Rockford; Juanice Jackson, wife of Dean Jackson of Wayne City; Danny Weaver and wife Leesa, of rural Cisne; Kathie, wife of Lonnie Shepard of rural Cisne; and Vernon Weaver of Wayne City. They have nineteen grandchildren, forty great - grandchildren, plus one more due on January 28, and also seven step great - grandchildren, making the family total, including spouses, ninety - seven.
Dwight is ninety - two years old, and despite some knee problems, still does yard work and just enjoys life. Evelyn, at eighty - nine, has very few health problems, and still does her own cleaning and cooking. The family feels so blessed to have parents who have been such a wonderful influence in their lives. Their strong faith in the Lord, their high moral character, and their love for family and others have been the building blocks of three generations.
