Jim Rasor

News 3 Chief Meteorologist

Jim came to WSIL September 1 , 1987. Jim is a Midwest native. He grew up on a small farm in southern Indiana. It was the farm life and a need for good weather information that led Jim to a career in the atmospheric sciences.

Jim graduated from Western Kentucky University and the University of North Carolina. Jim credits UNCA professor Dr. Ed Brotak as his mentor claiming Dr. Brotak taught him the real art of weather forecasting.

Jim talks to many groups each year about the weather and volunteers time to many groups to help in fund-raising efforts.

Jim and his wife Tammy are spending lots of time with sons Tyler and Jeremy tending to their gardens at home in Carterville.
