An Opp, Alabama native, News Anchor Angie Wyatt worked in many parts of the country before coming to WSIL in December of 1997.

She began her television career at WJHG-TV in Panama City, Florida. In 1995, Angie made the move north taking a position first with WABU-TV in Boston, Massachusetts then moving on to WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York. Wyatt has also worked as a freelance reporter for Court-TV, C-SPAN, CNN and ABC/Reuters-owned States News Service.

Angie left the daily news grind, briefly in 1997, to take a job as a freelance reporter and producer with Expedition Outreach, a Boston-based organization. She filed reports from deep in the Amazon jungle and from 18-thousand feet on top of a mountain.

Angie went right to work immediately following her graduation from Troy State University in 1991. In 1996, she enrolled and studied government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

When not on the job at WSIL, Angie enjoys spending time with her son Wyatt (her maiden name) and husband Jon.

Darren Kinnard

News 3 Sports Director

Darren Kinnard has been part of the WSIL team since 1993. He knows Southern Illinois inside and out, because it's home. Darren is from the small town of Iuka, near Salem, which is about an hour and a half northeast of Carterville. He is a graduate of Kinmundy-Alma High School, Kaskaskia College, and SIU. Darren started at WSIL as a photographer shortly after graduating from SIU. By late 1994, he was the third member of the sports staff. In January of 1996, Darren became the weekend sports anchor, reporter, and co-host of the Friday night staple, "Sports Extra." In November of 2004, he completed the climb up the departmental ladder taking over as Sports Director. He is also host of "Saluki Basketball with Chris Lowery." Darren and his wife Melissa have two children. They are very active in their church and school.

Fondest sports memories I've had the fortune of witnessing:

1) SIU's Sweet 16 run in 2002.

2) Ryan Bruns hitting the game winning shot to give Pinckneyville the 1994 Class A State Basketball title.

3) The incredible turnaround of Jerry Kill's 2003 Football Salukis, including a playoff trip with the Dawgs to Delaware.

4) Three straight MVC Tournament Championships for SIU under Rich Herrin, 1993-95.

5) The Carterville Lions run to a Class 3A State Football title in 1996.

6) Billy Kendrick hitting Keith Stefan for a touchdown on the final play of the game, giving Johnston City the Black Diamond title over Sesser-Valier in 1993.

7) SIU clinching its 4th straight MVC Championship by beating Wichita State in February 2005. What a joy watching DB and company take down the nets!

8) Mt. Vernon's Kent Williams dropping a KMOX Shootout record 48 on future NBA-er Jamal Crawford's team out of Washington.

9) SIU 65, Creighton 62 on senior night 2003...in yer eye Korver!

10) Every Friday night on a sideline or a baseline near you.
