Lawsuit Against RLC Dismissed

WSIL -- A federal judge has dismissed a discrimination lawsuit against Rend Lake College.

The lawsuit was filed in 2008 by Salah Shakir, the college's Vice President of Information Technology.

In his complaint, Shakir claimed he had been harassed, demoted and passed over for the job of college President because he's an Iraq native and a Muslim.

On Monday, Judge David Herndon dismissed all five counts in the lawsuit.

Judge Herndon ruled Shakir does not have evidence to support his discrimination claims.
