Creal Springs Habitat for Humanity House
CREAL SPRINGS--A local woman is realizing the dream of owning her own home.
Habitat for Humanity is building the house in Creal Springs with the help of volunteers and a generous donation from a local business.
Over the course of the next 4 months, dozens of volunteers will help to finish this home.
The new homeowner, Linda Stanford, is grateful and overwhelmed by the generosity of Habitat for Humanity.
She says, "To know that people really care to help other people. Then when things go bad and you think about all the good people out there, it gives you encouragement."
Most people that Habitat builds for have never owned a home. For new homeowner, Linda, this house will represent hope and happiness.
Stanford says, "It's changed my life. I'll finally have peace. I'll be able to decorate and know I don't have to pack up a year later."
Black Diamond Harley Davidson donated the lot where the home is being constructed.
Co-Owner of Black Diamond Harley Davidson says, "We're proud of the people at Habitat for Humanity. They just have some awesome people in their organization and do a lot of great things for a lot of great people. We're just glad to be a part of it."
The building of the home would not be possible without countless hours of volunteer work.
John A. Logan College Construction Management students provided the initial construction.
Built at John A., the house was dismantled about a week ago and moved to Creal Springs.
Students say they are having fun re-building, while serving a good cause.
Construction Management student, Ryan Brumleve, says, "I guess we're doing a pretty good thing, so it feels good to be doing this."
Stanford says she wants to give all the volunteers a big hug and thank you for their hard work.
Habitat for Humanity still needs to raise 10-thousand dollars to finish the Stanford home.
