New Details in Interstate Accident

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Authorities continue to investigate a deadly crash on Interstate 57.

The accident happened Monday evening near mile marker 69.

Illinois State Police say a pickup truck driven by Richard Logsdon, 37, of Benton was headed north when it crossed the median and hit a southbound passenger car, killing the car's driver.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler has identified the victim as Janice Marie Gielda, 66, of Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Logsdon was taken to Herrin Hospital with major injuries.

Illinois State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
