Police Investigate Death in Shawneetown

GALLATIN COUNTY-- Shawneetown Police Chief Robert Patton confirmed a white male was found dead near the Shawnee Chief Motel around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

Officials say a death investigation is underway.

Neighbors report hearing gunshots shortly before the body was found. They believe the two are connected.

Gallatin County Coroner Tony Cox says he will not release the victim's name until Monday afternoon pending family notification.

No suspect is in custody at this time.
