UNION COUNTY- It was a shocking crime that rocked a community.

Leona Mount and Mary Shepard were brutally attacked while working at the Anna First Baptist Church three weeks ago and are now recovering.

The incident impacted many in the Union County community even the youngest.

Second graders at Lincoln Elementary are now trying to help.

The words of Kaylee Oxford say it all, "They're going to see that we care for them, that we care for them a lot."

She speaks for all of the kids at Lincoln School in Anna words of healing and of hope.

These kids are making get well cards for the women from First Baptist.

The cards are an art project decorated for fall and carrying a big message.

2nd Grader Julia Lasley agrees, "Get well soon and I hope you feel better."

The students are trying to bring some good to a town that has been overshadowed by bad as of late.

Lincoln Elementary School School Principal Mark Laster says, "We felt like this was a great opportunity to teach students about compassion, about caring for others, about how to respond to mean people."

With every drawing every card that response is becoming more evident.
