Vick to Run For Williamson Co. Sheriff

Play Video
WILLIAMSON COUNTY- A former Johnston City police chief plans to run for Williamson County Sheriff.

Democrat Bennie Vick announced his candidacy this morning in Johnston City.

Vick is a Williamson County native with 37 years of law enforcement experience.

After retiring as chief in Johnston City he went on to become an SIU police sergeant.

Vick says he would provide a smooth transition as current Williamson County sheriff Tom Cundiff retires, "They're losing a lot of their experienced officers, they need someone to step in and replace those people. I can do that, that's what I've done for years."

Other candidates for Williamson County Sheriff are Republicans Dennis Presley, Matthew Akes and Cecil Todd Emery along with Democrat Dave Sweeten.
