Alexander County Recieves Generous Donation

ALEXANDER COUNTY- In Alexander County the sheriff is thankful for the kindness of strangers. Five new patrol cars rolled in Wednesday and will soon be patrolling the community. They were donated by a Sheriff's department in Florida.

The Alexander County sheriff's department had five cars repossessed last week due to non-payments. Sheriff Dave Barkett says he's grateful for the kindness of fellow law enforcement during these tough economic times, "It's a wonderful feeling knowing we can have backups of automobiles we can respond to calls."

The department was also forced to layoff 11 employees earlier this month because of budget shortfalls.
