Arrests Made in Pyramid Park Damage

PERRY COUNTY -- Two Perry County men are under arrest for damaging facilities at Pyramid State Park.

Christopher Phillips, 20, of Pinckneyville and Jerry Patterson, 18, of Tamaroa were arrested Tuesday.

Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman says the men are charged with two counts each of possessing a stolen vehicle and criminal damage to state property.

Authorities say the men twice stole semis from Perry County businesses and used the trucks to ram restroom facilities at Pyramid Park. Damage to the buildings was estimated at more than $40,000.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office, Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Du Quoin Police Department were involved in the investigation.
