Ameren Plant Lay-Offs

WSIL-TV- Ameren says they will cut some positions and lay off 200 people at three of their Illinois plants. One of those facilities is in Jackson County.

The plant in Grand Tower operates from May through September and has a limited number of staff maintaining it the rest of the year.

Thirty One people currently work there.

Ameren says the plant will have 27 employees and 7 during the other months.

Officials say the cuts will affect all positions at the plant.

The company says they are working on finding job opportunities for employees at other Ameren facilities.

The cuts are being blamed on the economy and are expected to happen at the first of the year.
