CARBONDALE -- Officials with Memorial Hospital in Carbondale say their emergency room is filling with patients
One person has died from a head injury.
CARBONDALE -Hospital operating on back-up power staff says it's fully operational. Officials want to remind you to stay off the roads.
WSIL-TV -- For your own safety A curfew is in effect in Williamson and Jackson counties until 6 AM Due to a power outage on the SIU campus, the day many students have been waiting for was cancelled.
WSIL TV - Emergency Management Officials issued curfews starting at 9 PM. Please remain home unless it's severely damaged.
CARTERVILLE - Win-Air in Carterville sustained significant damage. Three people were inside this building when the storm blew through the region The employees took cover under a desk and were unharmed.
MARION -- The Williamson County Airport was also slammed by high winds. The metal roof of the Corporate Hangar was sheered away. Much of the metal ended up in the parking lot -- some wrapped around light posts. Some slammed into cars smashing windows and denting the outsides. Airport manager Doug Kimmel says nearly every building at the airport was damaged in someway.
MARION -- The roof of the Civic Center blown to the street. 17th Street Restaurant damaged
MURPHYSBORO -- Trailer blown over and Courthouse Tower Down. Murphysboro has curfew starting at 9 PM
MARION -- First Responders are to meet at 8:30 AM at Southern Illinois Airport
WSIL - TV Ameren reports 62,000 customers are without power this evening. Southeastern Illinois Electric reports thousands without power. They also ask customers not to clear branches near power lines or power lines themselves. 50% of Egyptian Electric customers are also in the dark tonight. Electric officials say it could be days before power is restored.
MARION - Heartland Hospital had more than a dozen people come to the hospital with broken bones due to the storm.
WSIL - Several cities have also instituted curfews. Johnston City's curfew began at 4pm. Herrin and Energy are asking residents to stay in from 8pm until 6am.
JACKSON COUNTY -- Officals asking for people to stay off the roads this evening. The curfew is expected to be in place for several days.
WSIL -- Emergency crews are asking for ALL non-essential personnel to stay off roadways. Crews are have a difficult time clearing debris.
