The Southern Illinois Audubon Society will hold their Annual Fall Seed Sale Fundraiser. D&M is giving the Audubon Society a generous discount on the total sales, which is the Audubon Society's profit. This year 50% of the Society's profits will be donated to Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation in Carterville. Come early because supplies of some seed mixes might be limited. The 3.1 and 6.2 mile races will run along the Mississippi River on the upper and lower levee roads. The scenic courses will be marked, measured and timed. The running surface is mostly gravel. A commemmorative long-sleeve t-shirt is part of the entry fee for all activities. Entry fee for all activities is $18.00 for adults, $8.00 for students up to grade 12 and senior citizens. You can register early by getting an application by either downloading from the chesi.org website or by requesting an application by fax or mail to John Boget at Community Health and Emergency Services, P.O. The event benefits the American Cancer Society. Teams will be competing for the title of Southern Illinois' Chili Champ. The contest will be judged by the DJ's of WGGH radio and the Marketing Director of River Radio. The entry fee is $25.00. Aiden Scott and Anna Joe Menefee were born on August 13, 2009. After delivery at Carbondale Memorial, Aiden had to be flown to Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Aiden was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries. This is a heart defect where the aorta, pulmonary artery, and coronary arteries were reversed. Oxygen could not get from his lungs to his body. He was also born with severe pulmonary hypertension. Aiden came home from the hospital on September 2, on oxygen and a feeding tube.
