The first fundraiser is for Joe Hilton & will be Feb. 16th at the First Methodist Church in Johnston City. This will be a Pancake Supper from 5 till 8 pm. The charge is $6.00 for adults and will include pancakes, sausage & a drink. The second fundraiser will be held at McAlister's in Marion from 6 till 8 pm. McAlister's will donate 10% of their proceeds during this time to their trip. Jennifer & Joe will be there to talk to the customers about the People to People Program. These students will also accept donations at any time & are asking people to come to these events to help support their efforts. The Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale is hosting “A Tribute To The Oscars." Tickets are $35 per person; sponsor tables of eight are available for $280, and must be purchased in advance by calling Diane Hood at 303-5974. Tickets will not be sold on the night of the event. Attendees will enjoy dinner catered by 17th Street Barbecue. A cash bar will be available. Attractions include an opportunity to star on the Big Screen with “Lights, Camera, and Action” and win a best actor Oscar award. Other activities include a silent auction, movie trivia games with prizes and a 50/50 raffle. There will also be a chance to select the Best Picture of the 10 nominees and win a recliner from Furniture King. All proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls of Carbondale.
