For over twenty years, CCDI has worked to improve the lives of people with disabilities, & teach the skills needed to affect change through our grassroots advocacy efforts. All individuals are welcome to attend this regional meeting. Upcoming advocacy goals for 2010-2011 will be discussed as well as candidates running for the upcoming CCDI election. Presentations on the LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) will be presented at this meeting. CCDI is a non-profit, cross-disability, grassroots advocacy organization. It has more then 1500 members across the state, comprised of chapters and advocacy action teams. Our mission is to advocate for all people with disabilities and work for equality at the local, state & federal levels.

The charge is $6.00 for adults and will include pancakes, sausage & a drink. The second fundraiser will be held at McAlister's in Marion from 6 till 8 pm. It is one of the oldest student-run film festivals in the United States & is dedicated to encouraging grassroots filmmaking in local communities, highlighting thousands of independent works that promote human rights, peace and justice topics, or environmental issues. It includes juried films in four categories -- animation, documentary, experimental, & narrative. The Festival provides upwards of $4,000 dollars in cash awards to the best works in each category. The fun starts with a delicious pancake breakfast featuring real maple syrup & continues with the hands-on experience of "sugaring-off." All ages are welcome to enjoy the morning exploring the age-old pioneer tradition of harvesting the maple product & boiling it down to create syrup. Tickets are $15 for ages 15 & older & $8 for ages 5-14, kids younger than 5 are free. Advance registration is required.

Ahoy me hearties! Try your hand (or hook!) at some piratey science. We'll be building pirate ships, exploring monocular vision with our eye patches, walking the plank and more! Pirate attire is encouraged, but not required. Pirate hats, eye-patches, & doubloons provided. Pre-registration required. First come, first served basis. All children must be potty-trained. Ages 3-6. Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction for Dana Johnson and Daughter Jenny. Dana is the co-owner of DuQuoin Auto Service. He is self-employed & has no insurance. Recently he had to have his colon removed & is possibly looking at another surgery in spring or summer. He has been out of work for several months. Jenny is waiting on her 2nd heart transplant at Barnes in St. Louis. Because of her condition she must stay at the hospital to continue treatment. All you can eat Spaghetti dinner with salad,garlic bread,dessert and drink, silent auction and music by Christian band Beaucoup Creek. Adults $6.00, 6-12 $4.00, 5 & under Free. Dinner 4-7pm Music and Silent Auction 5-8pm.
