Vendors Gear Up for Hunting and Fishing Days
CARTERVILLE -- A fall tradition returns this weekend. The 26th Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days will offer plenty of activities, exhibits, and shopping for the whole family.
The campus of John A. Logan College was bustling with vendors Friday.
"It just keeps getting bigger and better every year," said Director of College Relations, Dr. Steve O'Keefe.
O'Keefe believes the annual event could draw a crowd of 40,000 this year.
"There's always something new you can learn," said O'Keefe. "The outdoor industry is changing all the time. There are new regulations, new laws. People are going to do seminars."
Saturday and Sunday are packed with food, competitions, and activities for visitors of all ages.
The college archery club is one of many exhibits featured this year. Kaitlyn Abell showed of the skill to News 3 on Friday.
"It's not a typical girls sport," said Abell. "To me, it's nice and relaxing."
Last year, Abell was excited to see the exhibit inspire other girls to try the sport. She hopes this weekend will do the same.
You can find a complete list of events on the Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days website.
