VFW Hosts Veterans Appreciation Day

By Loreto Cruz III

WILLIAMSON CO. --  Folks in Marion celebrated our local veterans on Saturday.

More than two-hundred people came to the Marion VFW for Veterans Appreciation Day. The fundraiser will help welcome home local troops.
The event had plenty of food, fun for kids, and a wide variety of custom cars.
Many visitors also got the chance to dunk people, like the Marion High School Football Coach. Kerry Martin says he's happy his team could help out.
"The real joy in this life is about the giving back part," said Martin. "You think it's receiving when you're young, but as you get older, it's the giving back that brings you back. To be able to come out here and say thanks in some way to some of these guys and gals who served our country is a really awesome thing."
The V-F-W Post commander says this is the first year for the event, but they hope to do it in the future.
