WSIL - A new law in Illinois makes it illegal for child sex offenders to participate in Halloween activities. The new law means child sex offenders can't distribute candy or other items on Thursday.

It's the same law that bans child sex offenders from working as Santa Claus or the Easter bunny during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Police say the new law helps give parents peace of mind.
