Miners Love Finish Over Normal

By WSIL Sports

MARION -- On a night that saw a successful wedding proposal in the stands, the Southern Illinois Miners made sure all their fans went home happy.

After getting shutout Wednesday night, the Miners' bats remained quiet for the first five innings of Thursday night's rubber game with Normal.

The CornBelters led 2-0 until Jereme Milons' two-out, bases clearing triple in the bottom of the sixth. The Miners tacked on six more runs in the seventh and cruised to a 9-2 win.

The Miners now head to Joliet to take on the Slammers for three this weekend. Southern Illinois remains tied with Florence, two games behind Gateway for the final wildcard spot with 18 to play.
