Miners Can't Complete Sweep

By WSIL Sports

MARION -- The Southern Illinois Miners missed out on a chance to complete a second sweep of the Frontier League's top team in the last two weeks, losing 8-4 to Gateway Wednesday night.

The Miners built a 4-0 lead after three innings, but could not hold it.  Southern Illinois was sloppy in the field, as four errors allowed the Grizzlies to score three in fifth, two in the sixth, and one each in the last three innings.

The Miners will continue their homestand with a visit from first place Washington.  The Miners are in third place in the East, four games back of the Wild Things.
