MARION -- The 15th annual Young Hearts with Goals and Purpose banquet took place Saturday afternoon at the Pavilion of the City of Marion. Roughly 400 people attended the ceremony.

The banquet honors children who are making strives in the community with their achievements. Organizers say it's a way to encourage kids to keep doing what they're doing.

"We are building them up and letting them know that they are the future leaders of tomorrow. So what we do is we bring them in here and we build up they self-esteem, motivate them and encourage them, and put them on program and let them know that they are special," says event Coordinator Tryphosia Lee

There was plenty of food, live music, and door prizes were given away to participants.
