Law Enforcement Torch Run

By Brandon Merano

WSIL -- Local law enforcement agencies got some exercise for a good cause Tuesday in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Carbondale Police officers, along with Special Olympics athletes and other residents took off from Carbondale City Hall Tuesday afternoon. The group ran to Rent One Park in Marion finishing the southern Illinois leg of the Torch Run.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraiser for Special Olympics of Illinois. More than 3,000 officers will run over 1,500 miles with the Flame of Hope, leading up to the State Summer Games held in Normal later this month.
