Annual Boat and Fishing Show

By WSIL Manager

MARION -- Folks are flocking to Marion this weekend for the annual Boat and Fishing show. The event kicked off Friday evening at the Pavilion of the city of Marion. This is the seventh year for the show.

Vendors are showing off their boats, trailers, and trucks, along with ATVs and fishing accessories. There's also live entertainment going on. Organizers say the show has grown bigger and bigger over the years.
"We've actually had a waiting list to get into this show for three years now and this year was no different. So it looks like next year I'm going to have to re-think the floor plan and start putting people in the hallways," explains Shannon Johnson, the show's executive director.
The Boating and Fishing Show donates all the money it takes in from vendor fees to two local charities: Gumdrops in Carterville and the Youth Outdoor Education Foundation. The event continues on Sunday and admission is free.
