I-24 Road Work Update
WSIL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation says that work on the westbound lanes of the I-24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis is complete.
Westbound lane restrictions for traffic traveling from Kentucky into Illinois are down and both lanes are open. Eastbound lane restrictions are still up, but one open lane has been widened to improve traffic flow.
Work is continuing on the eastbound side and is expected to be complete by the middle of next week. If work is not completed, the eastbound work zone will come down for the July 4th Holiday driving period by about 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.
Crews will be using a rolling work zone caravan to add raised pavement reflectors to the bridge driving lanes in both directions on Monday and Tuesday, so drivers should continue to use caution.
