Metropolis Sonic Giveaway

By WSIL Manager

METROPOLIS -- Students in Metropolis will head back to class later this week. Tonight they got some last minute help preparing for the school year. Sonic in Metropolis held its first annual back to school drive.

Area businesses have been collecting school supplies since early July. Every donation brought into Sonic, got a free large sweet tea. In just 30 days, they collected nearly 200 bags of school supplies.
"That's the reason why we're doing it," says Sonic Area Supervisor Josh Denton. "I mean, we want the community's really done a lot for us, and we want to give back and we know time are tough for everybody."
The Metropolis Police and Fire Departments were also on hand. All kids received fingerprint kits and had the chance to meet the new Police K-9.
