2014 Sack Hunger Campaign
WSIL-TV -- It's time again to Sack Hunger! For the third straight year, WSIL is helping fight hunger in southern Illinois with Sack Hunger football games at local high schools.
Last season, football fans throughout the area contributed more than 31,000 food items to help 18 food pantries in 13 southern Illinois communities.
This season, WSIL is kicking it up a notch, with three double-header weeks to help even more pantries in more communities.
Each week, News 3 will feature area food pantries with stories about how they serve the community. Then, each Friday throughout the high school football season, News 3 will broadcast live from a "Sack Hunger" game while excepting food donations at the gate. Football fans are encouraged to bring a sack of non-perishable food items to the game to donate to their local pantry. The community raising the most items will earn their pantry an additional $500 to buy more food items courtesy Black Diamond Harley Davidson in Marion. Target is also contributing to the cause this year.
Come out and support your team and your local food pantry!
