Webber Township Baseball Finishes in 2nd Place at State

By WSIL Sports

PEORIA -- Webber Township's baseball team claimed second place in the class 1A state championship game on Saturday.

Illinois Lutheran jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings of play. Lutheran then added four runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Webber added two runs in the third inning but that is all the offense it would find in the 12-2 loss in six innings of play.

"It's hard to get over not being in first place but then you think about the long journey that it took to get here and I am proud of my team and second place is something that we have never done before," said Webber Township senior Christian Bush. We have never actually made it to state, so second place is a big accomplishment."

Congratulations to Webber Township on an incredible season.
