MT. VERNON -- The United Way is hosting its annual Stuff the Bus campaign.

School supplies donated by the community are piling up in Mt. Vernon and will soon be handed out.

Gen Fed Financial is helped to sponsor the drive by donating money for every new account that was opened on Friday. They also gave away free lunch with a donation.

Organizers hope to have supplies for more than 750 kids whose families need a little extra help.

"The needs in the classroom have changed so much. Now kids need jump drives and ear buds and all these things, that in the past they didn't need that are quite expensive," said representative with United Way Rhonda Edmonson.

The supplies will be handed out next week at the Mt. Vernon Primary Center.
