Hornettes Headed Back to State

By WSIL Sports

INA -- The Nashville Hornettes are heading back to the state softball tournament after beating Teutopolis 3-0 at the Class 2A Rend Lake super-sectional Monday afternoon.

The Hornettes (36-4) were fueled by pitcher Maci Ingram. The sophomore threw a no-hitter, striking out 16 batters. Ingram's only blemish was a walk. Without it, she would have thrown a perfect game. The Wooden Shoes only managed to put four balls in play all day.

Nashville will play Kankakee McNamara in the semifinals Friday at 5:30 p.m. at EastSide Centre in Peoria. The Fightin' Irish are 33-0 and the state's No. 1 ranked team in 2A.
