WEST FRANKFORT -- The Harrisburg Bulldogs boys basketball team is once again an elite eight team.

Harrisburg (30-1) blasted Nashville 52-26 in the West Frankfort 2A Sectional final Friday night to advance to the SIU Super-Sectional for the second straight season.

Nashville trailed by just five points after the first quarter and trimmed the lead to two, 14-12, on a Scott Brown 3-pointer early in the second. But the offense went cold from there. The Bulldogs used a 14-0 run to end the first half leading 28-12.

The rout continued in the third for the Bulldogs. Junior forward Eli Taborn-Scott and senior Tyler Smithpeters paced Harrisburg with 17 points each. Capel Henshaw added 13 points.

Harrisburg will play Teutopolis in the SIU 2A Super-Sectional Tuesday night at 8 p.m. for the right to go to the state tournament.
