INA-- It can be difficult for some families to buy school supplies for their children. A local group is working to change that.

Ina's Missionary Baptist Church has been collecting donations for several weeks. They hosted a giveaway of those supplies Saturday.

"Every little bit helps" explained Michelle Allen.

She has three children of her own.

"And it's out of love that we're doing it. We hope that people accept it as a gesture of love, and they might want to come and get these supplies for their kids."

Pastor Dale Burzynski said he gave the congregation a list of supplies required by Ina School District and donations came pouring in.

Burzynski's hosted similar events during the holidays that have been very successful before.

"I'm expecting this program to help out those same kids who got a gift at Christmas time, they may not have otherwise gotten." the pastor said, "Sometimes, there might be several kids in the family, and as a result of that they may need somebody to help them out. We're here to try to do that."

The event is in its first year, but Pastor Burzynski says he is considering making it a regular event.
