CARBONDALE -- The offensive woes continued for the Football Salukis, except this time the defense could not save the day.

After managing only 198 yards in a 14-6 Missouri Valley opening win last week at Missouri State, three interceptions doomed the Dawgs in a 24-3 loss to Indiana State Saturday at Saluki Stadium.

The Sycamores led 7-3 after three quarters, then Shakir Bell took over. Bell scored two fourth quarter touchdowns and finished with 160 yards rushing for the night as Indiana State outscored SIU 17-0 in the final frame to snap a nine year losing streak to the Salukis.

SIU falls to 2-3, 1-1 in the MVFC. Next week, the Dawgs travel to unbeaten Illinois State.
