CHARLESTON -- The 2012 season got off to a disappointing start for the Football Salukis, in the form of a 49-28 loss at Eastern Illinois.

The Dawgs turned the ball over six times on offense, and allowed a school record seven Panthers' touchdown passes, including two from wide receivers.

SIU fell behind 28-14 in the first half, but got back within a score when Kory Faulkner found MyCole Pruitt in the back of the endzone with 17 seconds left in the first half. The Salukis then took the opening possession of the third, and marched for the tying touchdown, a six yard run from Mika'il McCall--his third score of the night.

It was all downhill for the Salukis from there, as the Panthers scored the game's final 21 points.

SIU will travel to Miami, Ohio Saturday, September 8th.
