CARBONDALE -- SIU head coach Barry Hinson wrote two words on the dry erase board in the Salukis locker room before their home opener with Benedictine-Springfield Saturday night; Ohio Dominican.

After losing to the Division II Panthers last year in their first home game, Hinson told his team there was no way they were losing to another lesser foe this year. SIU blasted Benedictine-Springfield 100-62, breaking the century mark for the first time since 2002.

The Salukis (2-0) shot 65 percent from the floor, putting five players in double-figures. Jeff Early led all scorers for the second straight game, scoring 19 points. Every player that dressed for the dawgs scored at least once.

SIU returns to action next Tuesday night at SIU-Edwardsville.
