CARBONDALE -- It took a while, a very long while, but the Baseball Salukis evened their weekend series with Purdue by beating the Boilermakers 5-4 in 16 innings.

After spotting Purdue a 3-0 lead, the Dawgs cut it to 3-1 in the sixth on Ryan Casillas' RBI double.  The Salukis cut it to 3-2 in the seventh, when Casillas delivered again--this time at two-out, two-run double to put SIU on top 4-3.

Purdue promptly tied it up in the eighth, on Kyle Jackson's two-out, solo homerun.

Neither team could break through until the 16th, when Ryan Rostenhausler came through with a bases loaded, walkoff single.

The two teams will wrap up their series Sunday at 1:00.
