Salukis Top Trees, Win First Valley Game

CARBONDALE -- The streak is over at nine.

SIU (8-8, 1-4) won its first Missouri Valley Conference game in 10 tries Saturday night, beating Indiana State 76-71 at SIU Arena.

The Salukis were led by junior guard Desmar Jackson, who scored a career high 29 points, including a stretch of 15-straight points in the second half.

The Sycamores (10-6, 3-2) shot just 41 percent from the floor, including 26 percent from beyond the arc.

The victory matches SIU's win total from last season. The Dawgs travel to Bradley Tuesday at 7 p.m.
