Salukis Claim First Win

CARBONDALE -- SIU men's basketball team bounced back on Thursday night against Missouri S&T with a win, after the Salukis lost their first three games of the season.

SIU head coach Barry Hinson was frustrated with his team after its 72-70 loss against Austin Peay on Tuesday night.

Hinson got his team up bright and early on Wednesday morning to practice, hoping his team would wake up on the court.

The Salukis started slow against the Miners but held a 36-29 lead at halftime. SIU then poured it on in the second half to pull out the 96-74 win.

Both Desmar Jackson and Jalen Pendleton scored 24 points. Also, Anthony Beane added 20 points in the victory for the Salukis.

SIU improved to 1-3 on the season. The Salukis will now travel to Florida to face St. Bonaventure on Monday at 7:30 pm.
