SIU Comes Up Short at Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, In. -- SIU head coach Barry Hinson said the Salukis were their own worst enemy after losing to Indiana State 66-65 at the Hulman Center Saturday afternoon.

SIU (9-15, 2-11) led most of the game, taking a one-point lead, 65-64, with 1:08 to play on Jalen Pendleton's and one bucket. The Sycamores (16-8, 9-4) responded, Jake Odum hit a layup with 19 seconds left, putting Indiana State up 66-65. With time winding down, Pendleton had a shot to win it for Southern but his jumper hit the front iron and rimmed out.
