Mall Busy with Returns, Shoppers
CARBONDALE - The lines at JC Penney were steady, but some retailers said they're a bit surprised at the reasons some shoppers are hitting the registers.
"This is the craziest place I've been," said Brandi Campbell of Dahlgren.
Cashier after cashier, we found line after line. It was no surprise to catch up with some people knocking out their holiday returns.
"This is my third one, and my daughter's actually at Rue 21 exchanging some shirts, so four. I'm done with the mall after here," said Campbell.
JC Penney had all hands on deck to handle the customers, but retailers say it's not the returns that are keeping workers busy.
"Customers are shopping, they're purchasing," said store manager Dawn Fields. "Haven't seen so many returns yet."
Bargain hunters flooded the mall, looking for those post-holiday deals. Some that are comparable to what they would find on Black Friday.
"I'm not crazy but today I'm going a little bit crazy," said Razia Sami, Carbondale.
Shoppers stocked up on door busters and clearance items.
"They have a really good sale going on. And look at my bags!" said Sami.
And some people went to great lengths with a shopping plan to make sure they won't leave empty handed.
"First of all it's like find a parking spot, try and beat someone to the parking spot. Now you come in here and it's very much like a race to get everything," said Sofia Sami, Carbondale.
Retailers here said they're not sure how much money will be made Monday but they don't think it will rival the sales they made on Black Friday.
