Standoff in Massac County

BROOKPORT -- Illinois State Police say they were called to the 1300 block of Mt. Sterling Road just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday night. A man had locked himself inside a home.

Invesitgators say there were called to a dispute involving a gun. The man finally surrendered around 2:00 a.m. Monday. Prosecutors are now considering charges.

UNIONVILLE -- Massac County Sheriff tells News 3 the scene is clear, and no one was injured during a standoff with police.

UNIONVILLE  --  Massac County law enforcement are at the scene of what appears to be a standoff. It's taking place in Unionville, near the intersection of Unionville and Mt. Sterling Roads.

The county sheriff's office is being tight-lipped about the scene. One deputy said they could be there for hours, but wouldn't go as far as to calling the scene an actual standoff.    

Residents nearby say it started around four or five Sunday afternoon.
