Train Derailment in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- County officials are looking into how a train derailed of its tracks early Sunday afternoon.
It happened around 1:30 p.m., near East Mitchell Lake Drive and Yellowbanks Road. Authorities say 19 cars went off the tracks of a Burlington Northern Sante Fe Train.
The train was hauling coal, but law enforcement says there was no threat to public safety. Railroad officials will stay on scene until the wreckage is cleaned up and train service is restored.
Officials caution local residents to be mindful of railroad equipment operating in the area.
