SESSER -- The Sesser-Valier Ministerial Alliance held it's second annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday. The family-friendly event also collected donations for the local Lifeline Food Pantry.

It only took $1 dollar or two cans of food to enjoy the afternoon festivities. Folks were able to browse different kinds of trucks, tractors, emergency vehicles, and classic cars. A hot dog lunch was also included with the donation.

The Sesser mayor also joined in on the fun by participating in a dunk booth. Organizers say this event is a big help to the local food pantry.

"It's very much needed. Last year at this time, there was a major shortage of funds in that account, possibly going into negative. So from that, that's why we started this event to boost it up," says event coordinator Jerry Travelstead.

Organizers are hoping to beat, if not match last year's event, which took in hundreds of canned goods and upwards of $1,200.

The Sesser-Valier Area Lifeline Food Pantry is always accepting donations.
